What happens if I am offered a studentship with the SWW DTP2?

After the assessment period you will be notified by email if you have been offered an award. You will then need to confirm whether you wish to accept or decline the offer by Thursday 29 April 2021.

If you accept, we will send you a formal award letter which provides key details of the studentship.

What happens if I am not offered a studentship with the SWW DTP2?

SWW DTP2 routinely receives more applications that would merit funding than can actually be funded. The Awarding Board determines a cohort of ‘first offers’ to be made on 1 April 2021 but also compiles a ranked ‘reserve list’ of applications that are of sufficient quality as potentially to deserve funding but which were not ranked as highly as the first cohort. Successful applicants sometimes decline their awards for a variety of good reasons. If ‘vacancies’ arise, SWW DTP2 will contact those on the ‘reserve list’ in rank order with an offer of a studentship. The final list of autumn starters in 2021 is likely to include a number from the ‘reserve list’. Some ‘reserve list’ offers may be made as late as August 2021.

If you are nonetheless unsuccessful, details of the next studentship competition (for entry in September 2022) will be available on our website in the autumn of 2021. You may apply again as long as you meet the eligibility criteria for an SWW DTP2 award as published in that round.
