‘Bristol’s Film & TV Industries’

‘Bristol’s Film & Television Industries’ was a UWE research project led by Professor Andrew Spicer and Dr Steve Presence and funded by the Higher Education Innovation Fund.

The project analysed the size, shape and characteristics of the film and television industries in the Bristol region and their contribution to its economic and cultural health.

The project comprised an extensive review of existing research on creative industries ‘clusters’ and regional film and television production; two surveys, one for companies and one for freelancers; and in-depth interviews with company executives, employees and other workers. We also produced a map to show the companies’ location and researched the history of film and television production in the region in order to understand how the cluster has evolved.
