About me
Freya took over as UWE_FILM Joint Programme Leader with Mark Simon Hewis in October 2016.
Freya is a Fulbright Scholar and Fellow of Syracuse University, NY where she completed her MFA in Fine Art Film. As Course Leader of Film Production at the University of Gloucestershire for the last five years, she is acknowldged with having completely turned around the course and made it one of the most successful BA’s in Filmmaking in the UK. She has just moved to teaching on the Filmmaking Course at UWE which is based in Bristol, the city she lives in.
She has been nominated for Best Lecturer and University Enterprise Awards, won a University Teaching Fellowship in 2012 and a hugely prestigious HEA National Teaching Fellowship in 2015. She is on the Executive Board for NAHEMI , the Directors Board of the IFA Bologna (International Filmmaking Academy) and is the External Examiner for the NFTS (National Film and Television School).

Freya launched ‘boyandbearfilms’ in 2014 and has completed NOT WAVING, starring Peter Bowles for IShorts/Creative England, independent documentary HOW LUCKY? about Lucky Ndlovu filmed in Finetown Township, South Africa over three years and ‘experimental musical’ BREAD AND BUTTER. All three films have screened Internationally.
